Maintain Your Automobile Yourself to Keep More Cash
Posted by Manning Johnson | Under Vehicles Thursday Feb 11, 2010If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you should try to maintain your car and fix a few minor things yourself. You will save so much money that way, which you can use to enjoy life.
Did you know that most people never check their tire pressure? No wonder tire companies are making so much money. Inflate your tires yourself at the gas station and keep them that way.
Changing your own oil is actually easy and something I recommend doing. Additionally, you can pick the oil to use and make sure you are putting quality motor oil in your car.
You can replace your windshield wipers very easily without the maintenance guy telling you he can do it for you just so he can make more money. It literally takes 5 minutes to do and something you should try.
It probably takes 10 – 20 minutes of your time to change your tires yourself, but most people pay someone and wait hours in line just to get the same service. It’s just not worth it.
Do not ever do major repairs yourself unless you have years of experience fixing cars. I’m sure you will agree that cars are nice, but it’s also very dangerous if something were to go wrong.
There are many accessories you can buy for your car, but they are basically all a waste of money. Do it if you love it, but if you are thinking about cash, don’t.
Changing your break pads isn’t the easiest but it’s very straight forward. If you are afraid to mess something up, go to a mechanic but there’s no need to go to the dealership for this service.
Get your light bulbs changed without breaking a sweat. It’s very easy and now that people want to charge you for everything, it’s not worth asking them for a favor.
I’m not saying that you should do your wheel alignment yourself though, because it’s pretty much impossible. You need equipment to do it which you will never have so pony up the cash.
I couldn’t believe how much money I saved with these Home Depot coupons currently available.
